Arpeggiator 1

For my Arpeggiator I used as little instruments as possible, while still trying to get a good, complex sound. The arpeggiator helped in making my background parts, as well as helping in making the extra sounds. I also, used the FPC to create my basic drum lines, adding on to them to make fills or change the pattern slightly. The bass part I composed myself.

For the main part, I used the Electricpiano with random arpeggiation, which ended up getting a really cool sound.

For the whole song, I try to get a complex, chaotic feel, using two main patterns. I also added a few drum and bass fills, as well as a long build-up to the end with a drum solo at the end.

I later added the vocal part with some reverb to add greater emphasis to when the main parts rest.

Effects Project

For my effects project, I used the Reverb, Delay and Flanger. I used the Reverb mostly for some of the percusion parts, while I used the Delay for the main rhythms. I used the Flanger for the extra sounds, percussion and fills. I experimented a lot with the effects to make sure they gave me the desired effect, and I also created some clones for when I wanted a different sound or if I wanted a fill.

Once again, I couldn't decide on just one loop, so I tried a three main patters, based around the "Short" sound. When trying some of the other sounds, such as the "Windy" and "Death Ray," I found that the piano roll needed to be used so they would not go on forever. The bass and the drums I tried to keep simple, but I changed the effects and volume of them to make them more interesting.

Bass Project

For the bass loop, I found a lot of bass lines I liked and couldn't stick with one I liked, so I decided I would have three major patterns, each connected with a drum fills and ending with a 3 measure outro. This time, I used a more electonic sound to try to get a dance/club feel to it. The bass lines I used are based around 8th notes, and I used and stayed within the B flat key to make it easier to compose.

I played with a few bass sounds, but I decided that I would use the Boobass. Many of the other ones became difficult to hear in the low register and had to be changed a lot in order to get a good sound. I still tried to keep the drum part simple, using only a Hi-hat, bass drum, snare and a few claps. For fills, I would use these instruments in different patterns.

Drum Loop 1

A short drum fill for music tech.

For this loop, I used two patterns as well as a fill and an outro. The first pattern consists of a basic rocok beat with a short toms fill at the end. I used the panning of the drums and cymbals, as well as mixed-matched drums, in order to get a more realistic sound. I tried to avoid aux. percusion instruments, as well as electronic sounds to keep an acoustic feel to it.

The second pattern uses the hi-hat and also uses a paradiddle at the end, between the bass and snare drums.

The last fill is an outro which uses 16th notes along the toms, and ends with a crash on the 1st beat of the next measure.
